From the LUFSD Homepage (4/17/08 2 PM):
The Nassau Police County Department has notified the Levittown School District that the report of an attempted forcible abduction of a male student at Wisdom Lane Middle School late Monday afternoon has been determined not to be either forcible, nor an attempted abduction, but an offer of a ride by an adult male, which was refused by the student without further incident.
While this determination may ease our minds about this incident, all students and parents are reminded to be vigilant of strangers, especially as the warm weather approaches. Other such incidents have been reported around Long Island, and they all should be taken seriously. Under no circumstances should children even speak to anyone addressing them from any sort of vehicle or approaching them on the street or on playgrounds. Students should avoid being alone on streets or play areas.
