Levittown bicyclist hit by train
Yesterday, a Levittown man on his bike was hit by a Long Island Rail Road train near the Bethpage Station.
On Monday, at around 8:35 PM, Joel Kurtz was struck by a LIRR train as he rode on Stewart Avenue near the Bethpage Station. Reports are that Kurtz, of Sprucewood Drive in Levittown, went around the down grade crossing gates and was hit by a westbound LIRR train.
Bethpage Fire Department, MTA and Nassau County Police responded; Kurtz was unresponsive with head injuries and transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. As of today, he is still listed under critical condition.
