ENTERTAINMENT:

AMF Wantagh Lanes, 1300 Wantagh Avenue, Wantagh. One of the best and largest bowling centers on Long Island. Food concessions and full Bar are located on the premises. Mulcahy’s, 3232 Railroad Avenue, Wantagh. Muls, as it is often called, is one of the largest bars on Long Island. This Pub and Music Hall can hold over 600 people; their stage often hosts local and nationally known bands. Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, 1000 Ocean Parkway, Wantagh. The Jones Beach Theater, built in 1950, expanded in 1991 and 1998, is a large 15,000 seat outdoor amphitheatre. MUSEUMS:

Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center, Jones Beach State Park (West End), Wantagh. The nature center has many indoor and ourdoor exhibits for children and adults. An environmental boardwalk, open year-round, takes you out into the dune environment to see plants and animals that live there. Programs are available for schools, youth organizations, clubs and the general public. PARKS:

State-

Jones Beach State Park, 1 Ocean Parkway, Wantagh. Jones Beach is the crown jewel of the New York State park system. The Park has 6.5 miles of ocean beach, one-half mile of bay beach for stillwater bathing, two swimming pools, 2 mile boardwalk, two museums, year-round food concessions, gift shop, marina, outdoor 15,000 seat amphitheatre, bandshell, 4 fishing piers, picnic areas, playground, beach volleyball, basketball courts, deck games, miniature and pitch and putt golf. It is estimated that over eight million people visit this beach per year.

County-

Wantagh Park, Wantagh. The Park, owned by the County and built in 1961, consists of over 111 acres with a large swimming complex, marina with ramp, lighted athletic fields, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, dog run, fishing pier, picnic areas and 3-miles of walking paths with waterfront views of the south shore.

Mill Pond Park, Merrick Road, Wantagh. The park is a long and narrow 54-acre preserve which includes a large pond with nature trails that wind through the woodland. Along with the numerous numbers of waterfowl, 11 different types of fish are present, fishing is allowed.

Twin Lakes Preserve, Park Avenue and Old Mill Road, Wantagh.

Other-

Bide-a-Wee Pet Memorial Park, 3300 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh. It’s one America’s largest pet cemeteries, with over 35,000 burials since 1916. Checkers, President Nixon’s dog, is buried here.
