The Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes, both long-time Levittown residents, joined the Levittown School District, PTA and Historical Society in protesting a question on the New York State Grade 8 Social Studies test.
The Levittown School District Superintendent, Dr. Herman A. Sirois, and Board of Education President, Gina Interdonato, joined with the Levittown Historical Society and local politicians are protesting a derogatory bias in the New York State Grade Eight Social Studies Exam.

The Levittown Union Free School District approves the proposed 2008/2009 budget. Although, at 3 the Election Districts, the number of “NO” voters outnumbered those voting “Yes”. The transportation proposal (#2) passed by 13 votes.
Today, May 20, is School Budget Vote Day for all Long Island School Districts. Island-wide, proposed school budgets are at the lowest increase in over a decade. Some districts will vote on new propositions and school board members.
As of 8 AM, the following polling locations are open; Bellmore, Merrick, Seaford and Wantagh School Districts. The other districts will open by mid-day; most will close by 9 or 10 PM.
Newsweek Magazine has just released their annual list of the top 1,300 US High Schools. Many Long Island high schools are among those listed.
The Town of Hempstead will host a S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Collection tomorrow Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore.
